 How much does it cost to join?

There is no membership or enrollment fee at Cappy’s. Your first class is free, and then you can purchase a  monthly pass or punch card, or you can pay one class at a time. We recommend that your first class be Boxing 101, and we’ll give you a 15% discount on your first punch card or monthly pass after you attend! Your free first class can also be Boxing Fitness or Youth Boxing Fitness. Sign up and reserve your first class online. 

 Do I need to reserve a spot in class

We highly recommend that you reserve your spot in class online or through the Zen Planner app (Android or iPhone). If you forget, we can add you to class when you arrive if there is space, but some of our popular time slots do fill up!

 What do I need to bring?

Dress in comfortable workout clothes and non-slip athletic shoes, and bring a water bottle. No bare midriffs or shirtless boxers, please! We provide handwraps for your first class and they are available for purchase ($15) or rental ($2) for subsequent classes. All other equipment is provided in class, but you are welcome to bring your own gloves, jumpropes, mitts, etc.

 I’m new to the gym; which class should I take?

We highly recommend that new boxers start with our Boxing 101 class. All Boxing 101 participants receive a 15% discount on their first punch card or monthly pass. You can also start with any of our Boxing Fitness classes. If you are anxious about your first class, feel free to drop into the gym and observe a class beforehand.

 I want to try boxing at Cappy’s, but I have a physical limitation or injury. Is Cappy’s right for me?

Cappy’s workouts are designed to accommodate a wide range of physical abilities and fitness levels. Our coaches can help you modify exercises to meet your needs, and you only need to push yourself as hard as you want to or feel able to during each class. If you want to do so, you can schedule a personal coaching session to work on specific modifications.

 Boxing looks fun, but I am not sure I want to hit anyone. Do you offer non-contact classes?

All of our Boxing Fitness classes are non-contact. In these classes, you will be working on your form and technique by punching heavy bags, speed bags, and focus mitts through a variety of drills. Our Sparring Skills classes do involve contact with a partner, and all of our Sparring Skills boxers wear mouth guards (available in the gym for $5) and provided headgear to protect themselves.

 Is the gym closed for holidays?

The gym is closed every year on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and on December 24th and 25th.

 I have a monthly membership or punch card, but I am going to be out of town for a few weeks. What do I do?

We are happy to place a hold or extension on your membership or punch card for vacations, illnesses or other reasons. Depending on your situation, there may be an administration fee to place a hold on your membership. See our holds and extensions policy for more information.

 Does Cappy’s provide one-on-one coaching?

Absolutely! Personal coaching is a great way to get even more out of your workout. Email gym@cappysgym.com to learn more about personal coaching.

FAQ

 Are you open during COVID?

YES! We are excited that Cappy’s is able to re-open our doors with small group classes starting July 1st! Because COVID-19 is still a reality we are taking many efforts to ensure the safety of our boxers and coaches in the gym.

 What will happen with my current membership?

If you were in the middle of a membership when we closed on March 15, we will restart your membership so you can use the remainder whenever you’re ready to return. Just email gym@cappysgym.com to let us know what date you’d like to start up again and we will reactivate your old membership.
If you’d rather hold onto that membership to use later for any reason you can purchase one of our new pay-what-you-can membership for now. 

 Are you still available for private coaching?

We are offering 1:1 and small group coaching at our new pay-what-you-can prices until Phase 3
You choose if you want to pay $30, $50 or $100 for a one-hour session with one of our coaches. Additional participants are $10 per person up to 5 total boxers.

 How can I help?

The  No. 1 thing you can do is come back to the gym once it is safe to reopen! We miss our boxers and being able to connect with you all and we look forward to seeing you in the gym when the time is right. If you want to help financially, you can buy a gift card on our website (for yourself or for your friends/family).

 I can't attend classes, how else can I stay connected with Cappy’s?

We are posting home workouts, both videos on Facebook and written lists of exercises, so that you can stay active and motivated during this time. We are also posting workout videos to our YouTube channel at tiny.cc/cappyvideos. If there are things you’d like to see us address, if you have questions about specific drills, or if you want to let us know how you’re doing, please comment or message us!

 Pay-What-You-Can Pricing = Boxers Helping Boxers

Accessibility is important to us. If you want to box, get in here. If you need stress release, get in here. We know our community is strong and generous. If you are able to pay at a higher level you’ll make it possible for others to pay less. EVERYONE IS WELCOME, EVERYONE IS VALUED. 

Pay-what-you-can pricing levels range from FREE to $500/month and you choose the level you can pay. Memberships will apply to BOTH in-gym classes and virtual classes. You can come just for in-gym classes, just do virtual classes, or do a combination of both. Again, you choose the level that’s right for you.

 What is it like to attend in-person classes during this time?

  • Limited to 5 participants

  • Classes will be 45 minutes long

  • All coaches and clients will be screened prior to every class for temperature checks.

  • Masks are required for everyone in the gym at all times

  • Gloves and wraps will no longer be loaned out, you must bring your own or purchase at the gym

  • Water fountains can only be used for filling water bottles, so please be sure to bring your own

  • At this point, high-risk people are not allowed in the gym. High risk includes those over 65 years of age, anyone with a serious underlying medical condition, people with moderate to severe asthma, or people who are immunocompromised.

 How do I register for classes?

  • Pre-registration on Zen Planner is required

  • Our new COVID waiver will be added to your profile which you must sign before your first class

  • Reserve your spot no more than 48 hours in advance

 What is the No Show/Cancellation Policy?

  • Cancel your reservation at least 3 hours in advance so someone on the waitlist can get in

  • 2 no-shows and your reservation privileges will be suspended for 2 weeks

 What are the screening & between sanitation policies?

  • All coaches and clients will be screened prior to every class for temperature checks.

  • We will be adding time between classes for deep cleaning, and creating socially distanced zones so each boxer has their own area and equipment during the entire class

 Do you have virtual classes?

YES! All In-Gym classes will be live streamed on Zoom. There is no participation limit, but you will need to reserve your spot in advance.
